Even though work stops, expenses run on..
It’s not hard to meet expenses, they are everywhere
Every week, I write an article to share my learning or discovery during my startup journey. Here is the link to my reasons for penning these articles for myself and for many others like me.
Do you also sometimes feel that a particular day, week, or month burns a big hole in your pocket? For me, this February month has been like that. All my insurance policies like health or motor have to be renewed this month. Also, various subscriptions to some professional development forums had to be renewed this month only. It felt like crazy, after I paid one thing, another reminder of a different payment popped up. In hindsight, I think I should have spread these payments routine to different months. I got some hard learning on how to incur my expenses strategically.
However, now changing the payment routines would be a difficult task, as all of these payments have annual renewals. Not doing them at a specified time could mean paying some late fees or in some cases having no insurance at all for some days, which seems like an unnecessary risk to me.
Amidst this retrospection and self-reflection, I decided to take my apple laptop for servicing. It did have some issue with a key, which looked to be a bit displaced and might breakdown with more usage. But little did I know that another fat expense was waiting for me at the Apple customer care center. The customer care executive told me that it is not just one single key, but the whole keyboard has to be replaced. Also, according to them, the laptop battery has swollen and it needs to be replaced too. Gosh, had I not taken the laptop to the service center, I would have been writing this article and maybe many more articles on the same laptop only. With the total money that I have to spend on these replacements, I can easily buy another laptop with a different brand. Why do I have to pay so much to rectify an old device? This much expense for different components of an apple laptop is just insane. We should coin the phrase “death by an apple” for people like me. Anyways, I do not want this post to be a ranting post, so I will stop here.
Today is the start of a new month. I am looking forward to this new month to end my spending spree and start my earning spree.
Wish you all a good week with more earnings and fewer burnings.
