Online Trainings are Overrated

Don’t crowd your day with too many trainings

As an entrepreneur, one thing that you would continuously take is — Trainings. I also took (am still taking) lots of these trainings to learn different aspects of business-like digital marketing, Sales, Product development etc. Although I do find these trainings useful to an extent, we get to learn the basics of a subject. But one should not believe that completing those trainings will make them an expert or that they could achieve the same results that the instructor advises or shows in the training.

I attended a training on how to build a MVP (Minimum Viable Product) . The instructor has good knowledge about his subject. I bought 2 more courses from this instructor. But when I started implementing the teaching while building my MVP, I ran in to challenges. For example, the free tools mentioned in training no longer exist. The forums which were suggested in the training to share our sales pitch, removed my message, as they do not allow any marketing messages in that forum.

My intention in sharing these instances is not to deter you from taking the trainings. But I have seen many people blindly taking many trainings and envisioning that they will get exact results. I know a person, who thinks that he can create an awesome training video by following a course.

My advice on online training is:

- Take online trainings as required but keep in mind that there will still be a learning curve to master that skillset, though training might just shorten this learning curve for you.

- Choose these trainings wisely and do not fill your entire day with these trainings.

- Do not expect that training will make you an overnight success.

- Application of your learning is equally necessary along with the deviation from the teachings that you need to do for your specific situation/domain/environment.

Please, feel free to leave comments below for thoughts, suggestions, and even feedbacks.
