The market is down these days!
People tend to believe these stories and start playing the victim game
Every week, I write an article to share my learning or discovery during my startup journey. Here is the link to my reasons for penning these articles for myself and for many others like me.
The market is down these days! How many times have you heard this sentence? Probably many times. I heard this line recently when I was talking to my friend last week. She is working a full-time job. Reflecting back on my days as an employee. I had also fallen prey to this situation quite many times.
I felt the market is as good as bad as how you feel it is. When I could not get a job to switch to another company, I started believing in these surveys that the market is down. Although I could see many people, be it juniors or senior people were successfully switching their jobs. I could see a similar situation in my friend’s case. The world is talking about Great Resignation and the unicorns mushrooms like never before in these times. But still, she wanted to pick the truth that aligned with her current status.
In the startup journey also, one gets to hear the same line “Market is down”. Like these days — Pandemic has disrupted things or the Share market is crashing, we should stick to a predictable job and not become an entrepreneur of a high-risk startup. But I want to tell myself and to my fellow entrepreneurs, whenever you or someone else starts doubting the timing of your decision in the prevalent market situation, follow these three things to put rest to these doubts
- Market can be down, but never let down your learnings. If you do not have enough work during the day, spend that time continuously learning new things and brushing your skills. Invest time in your spiritual growth, so it makes you stronger for your entrepreneurship journey
- Do not believe in just one side of the story that conveniently sync-up with your current situation. Check the situation from the other contrary side and analyze what can you change in our strategy to change your situation.
- Understand this is a vicious circle — the market is down sometimes, and the market is up sometimes. This is where your spiritual self will help you in being detached from both conditions. Do not dance when the market is up and do not cry when the market is down. Remain equanimous in both these situations and work diligently to attain your goals.
Wishing everyone a good week and hope we give our 100 percent effort to any market situation
